What happens if I leave?

If you leave BA with less than two years' service you are entitled to a refund of contributions plus interest. For Final Salary, the refund will be reduced to buy you back into the State Second Pension (S2P) and for taxes.

If you have either transferred benefits into or already built up benefits in NAPS it is likely that your total service will be more than two years. If so, a refund will not be available.

If you have more than two years of Qualifying Service in NAPS, you can either leave your pension with BA or transfer it elsewhere.

If you leave your pension with BA, for Final Salary, we will calculate the pension you have built up to the date you leave. This is called a deferred pension and can be drawn as a normal, early, late or ill-health retirement pension.

For BAMPS, you can no longer make contributions to your individual BAMPS retirement account but the money will grow with interest.

Full details of your pension benefits and options will automatically be sent to your home address shortly after you leave.
